The iPhone 3G S

Ever since the first rumors regarding Apple’s latest iPhone iteration, the iPhone 3G S, appeared on the Internet, pretty much everyone was extremely curious about what improvements the new model was going to provide over the older one, in terms of both hardware components and actual functioning speed. And while the second issue has pretty much been solved by the numerous user reviews and hands-on experiences that have made their way onto the web, things were up until now a bit different in the first case.
However, the people over at RapidRepair have now solved this issue as well in their latest “take-apart repair guide” for the iPhone 3G S. So, after getting their hands on an unit, they broke it apart in all its component pieces, finding out some very interesting information regarding the upgraded parts (compared to the iPhone 3G), but also to the way in which one can repair his/her iPhone by himself/herself, with just a little bit of courage and technical skill.
Furthermore, during the tear-apart process, RapidRepair also uncovered the fact that the battery is a Li-ion Polymer, 3.7V 4.51Whr unit, while the CPU is a Samsung S5PC100 (ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz, PowerVR SGX graphics). Similar to the iPhone 3G S uses NAND flash memory modules from Toshiba, while the amount of RAM has been pushed up to 256 MB (also courtesy of Infineon).
Other improvements with respect to the iPhone 3G model include the Bluetooth 2.1+EDR module, as well as the 3-megapixel camera module, which replaces the older version’s 2-megapixel imager.
